The Day

Who knew an overcast spring day in Houston could lead to one of my favorite sessions of all time? The Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens is part of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. It features 14 acres of sprawling grounds and flower gardens surrounding the darling and pink former home of philanthropist Ima Hogg. It is the perfect outdoor backdrop for a proposal, engagement, or bridal session in Houston, Texas. With so much room to roam, you’re able to find a beautiful spot to take pictures regardless of the time of day or lighting conditions. Paul put so much thought into his spring proposal to Sarah at the Bayou Bend Collection in Houston, Texas. He and I did a walk through the week before to scout locations, and the care and attention to detail to make sure it was perfect for his future bride was so touching. On the day of the engagement, Paul had told Sarah that they were taking couple photos just to have. She clearly knew what was coming, but was such a good sport about letting the day unfold the way he planned. Paul had prepared a keepsake box full of items from the course of the relationship for them to look at together before he led Sarah by the fountain and dropped to one knee.

Everything You Want In An Engagement Session

Paul and Sarah’s bright and bold spring engagement at Bayou Bend Collection is one of my all time favorite sessions. Partly because the scenery was gorgeous, but mostly because of their infectious personalities and evident love for each other. They were fun and silly and so willing to let their natural personalities shine. Teasing each other and running through the gardens like little kids again, I could tell they would be happily married to each other for a long time to come.
