Meet Rachel

Portrait of Rachel, the elopement and wedding photographer
About Rachel

When I was little, I would pour over my parents’ wedding album, their college photos, and the grainy, 1990’s disposable camera pictures of my siblings and I. Looking back, I think the draw was more than just getting to see their life before my memories of them started. It was the feeling that through the boxes of printed out 4×6 glossies, I was getting to re-meet people I already knew in a whole different way.

That feeling became an obsession with capturing the moments in my own life in a way that reflected what was really happening. From dangling out the side of a jeep, camera in hand, on beach trips with friends, to the most stunning shots while traveling, I want to capture it all. I love the idea that with a click you can freeze a feeling in time and come back to it over and over.

Now as a full-time professional photographer, my sole goal is to create images that freeze-frame those same kind of memories for you. Not just the post-ready posed shots (though I’ll get those for you as well), but the private first dance to your favorite Mt. Joy song in the clearing in the woods away from your family during your elopement.

Style

My style is bright and vibrant documentary, though I’ll guide you when needed with prompts and likely a lot of hand gesticulation. My motto and motivation is that you should enjoy the process, and not just the result. Having me take your photos will not only be painless, but fun. Tongue-in-cheek dry humor and being willing to embarrass myself for the shot are included.

Where

Though based in Charlottesville, Virginia, I frequently visit my hometown of Austin, Texas and offer sessions in both states. If you would like to book a session, elopement, or wedding, please use the contact form to inquire about dates. I can’t wait to meet you! When not working with a camera in my hand, you can find me in the kitchen perfecting my sourdough recipe, on the pickleball court, dinking enthusiastically, or in the ocean.

Let’s make some memories!
