Morgan & Chris’s Shenandoah National Park Engagement

There’s something quietly thrilling about taking your engagement photos at a mountaintop overlook. Not only because of the dramatic views, but because when you’re standing on the edge of The Point Overlook off Shenandoah National Park’s Skyline Drive with fog drifting upward from the valleys below, you’re very aware of the drop below you just feet away. It creates an adrenaline rush in couples that makes for huge smiles and tight hand-holding.

A June Evening Like No Other

I met Morgan and Chris at The Point Overlook in late June 2025. The air had that early-summer feeling—warm enough to shed layers, cool enough to linger in a light breeze. It had just rained an hour before, and the sun was just starting to come out from behind the clouds. The mist curled through the forest below, the sky stretched wide, and wildflowers nodded their heads at every step along Skyline Drive.

The path down to The Point had seen so much foliage growth in the last month that Chris had to push aside leaves and plants to guide Morgan down the rocks in her heels. The pictures of them coming down the path with so much greenery around them felt intimate and other-worldly. The flat-ish rock at the base of the short trail splits into two platforms, creating two similar but distinct backgrounds for couples.

As far as the eye can see are rolling green hills next to the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s gorgeous. Because of the weather, there was no one else on the usually crowded point with us. That was rare for the time of year and made the mountain views feel even more special, like they were there just for Morgan and Chris.
